Welcome to Embry-Riddle's EWB Chapter

Here at Embry-Riddle's Engineers Without Borders Club, our mission is to utilize engineering skills in order to provide humanitarian relief in the Nicaguarian region.

What can I do?

You can make a difference.

From coding optimization programs for water piping systems to designing CAD models, there are numerous ways to contribute to our Embry-Riddle Engineers without Borders (EWB)'s mission in Nicaragua. Whether you're a programmer, engineer, artist, or economist, your skills are invaluable in our humanitarian efforts. Our mission is to aid the people of Nicaragua, and every skill you have could play a vital role in achieving that goal.

Sub-Systems

The Work Breakdown Structure

CAD Design and Modeling:

In the CAD (Computer-Aided Design) subsystem, our team will focus on creating detailed engineering drawings and 3D models for the various infrastructure projects in Nicaragua. This includes designing water supply systems, housing structures, and educational facilities. CAD plays a crucial role in visualizing and optimizing the physical aspects of our projects, ensuring they are both efficient and sustainable.

Web Programming and Development

Web programming is integral to our project as it allows us to showcase our mission, progress, and impact to a global audience. Our skilled web developers will design and maintain an interactive website that provides project updates, volunteer opportunities, and a platform for fundraising. A user-friendly and informative website is essential for effective communication and engagement with our teammates.

MATLAB Optimization for Piping Systems

MATLAB optimization is a specialized sub-system focusing on improving the efficiency of our water piping systems. Our engineers will use MATLAB to develop algorithms that optimize water distribution, reduce energy consumption, and minimize maintenance costs. This subsystem ensures that our water supply projects are not only reliable but also cost-effective in the long run.

Documentation and Artistic Design for Fundraising

Documenting our journey and creating compelling artistic content is crucial for fundraising and creating awareness about our cause. This subsystem involves producing high-quality videos, photographs, and written content that tell the stories of the communities we serve. Additionally, artistic design is essential for creating eye-catching merchandise like T-shirts, posters, and promotional materials that can be used for fundraising events.

Economics and Pricing Management

The economics subsystem is responsible for managing the financial aspects of our club, including budgeting, pricing strategies, and resource allocation. This team will ensure that our projects are financially sustainable by monitoring costs, seeking funding opportunities, and making informed decisions on expenditure. Effective economic management is essential for the long-term success of our humanitarian initiatives.

Project Documentation and Reporting

Proper documentation and reporting are critical to keeping our teammates informed and ensuring accountability. This subsystem involves maintaining comprehensive records of project activities, expenses, and outcomes. Regular progress reports will be generated to update donors, volunteers, and partners on the status of our projects, highlighting the positive impact we are making in the Nicaraguan region.
